A work by Mawlawi is the subject of a master’s thesis

More than a century and a half after Mawlawi’s Al-Fadhila collection, it became for the first time the subject of a master’s thesis entitled 🙁 Manifestations of Inference in Mawlawi’s Al-Fadhila Collection (1882A.D).

The student, Hiwa Hassan karim, presented the thesis to the Department of Arabic Language in the Faculty of Arts on Sunday, October 9, 2022. The thesis was supervised by Dr. Fazil Hama Saeed, and was discussed by a panel of experts.

Al-Fadhila is collection written in theology of 2032 verses , written by Mawlawi in 1285 AH, 1868 AD.

Al-Fadhila has two advantages that makes it worthwhile, especially in the field of inference:

Firstly, because it was written in theology, and that in itself means logical inference. The existence of sufficient evidence to dispel the doubts of the counter party and convince him, since theology is science to establish the truth of the subjects of faith and belief, and to dispel doubts about them by rational evidence.

Secondly, because unlike any other work, Al-Fadhila is written in Arabic known for its eloquence, accuracy and power.

The researcher was able to demonstrate Mawlawi’s unrivalled abilities at several levels:

1- Language.

2- Rhetoric.

3- Reason and logic.

This will be the first thesis about this important work for the great Kurdish scientist and poet Mawlawi. It’s expected to be published in a book form in the near future.

Inference is an intellectual phenomenon as well as a cognition
mechanism and its roots date back to Greek philosophy, from which it has
passed to Islamic heritage and entered in all fields of knowledge, such as
logic, language, and theology. But, in the new era, this device has moved in
a different direction. So, if it has relied on mental evidence before; now it
emphasizes on all the reasons that the speaker uses for the purpose of
affecting the hearer and changing his/her mind. Due to the importance of
the phenomenon in the fields of knowledge, we chose it as the subject of
this study. For the data of the study Arabic collection Al-Fadhila, the work
of the Kurdish poet and scholar Mullah Abdul-Rahimi, also known as
Mawlawi has been selected.
The purpose of the study is to explain the concept of inference and
identify its phenomena in Al-Fadhila and it attempts to find out to the most
important linguistic techniques at the level of words and structures which
was used by the poet to persuade the receptor to trust his ideas and opinions.
The study also focuses on the rhetorical arts, and mental methods as well as
their influential in the field of reference.
The nature of the study required it to be divided into three sections, apart
from introduction and result sections, there is an introduction to talk about
the concept of inference and the biography of the poet along with his works,
including Al-Fadhila. The first part is devoted to linguistic reference along
with manifesting of inference with the ready-made and available evidences
by focusing on the role of words and structures in reasoning as well as
shedding light on the role of ready-made reference. In the second section,
rhetorical mechanisms have been discussed along with focusing on the role
of semantics, aesthetics, images and creative arts in the field of
documentation. The third part is specific to the persuasive power of logical
and semi-logical mechanisms and the way of employing them in AlFadhila.
In the end, the study came to some conclusions, including: evidence is a
clear phenomenon in Al-Fadhila, but the poet has neither taken the logical
style of philosophers alone, nor like other poets has evoked the emotions of
